About Our Team
Meet Our Team
There are a number of very important people at Vitulus who go to make the stud the success it is.You will note that the majority are females so its definitely ‘Chicks Rule’ at Vitulus!
Margo Hayes MBA: Owner / Manager
Margo came from a rural background. In fact her family, nee Mort, is only one of two in Queensland to have held a poperty in the same family for over 150 years. Her passion is for genetics and using all available scientific tools to help progress the development of the breed.
Kimberly Rice: Stud Grooms
Kimberly has been at Vitulus for four years. She is employed full time, has completed her Certificate 3 in Agriculture. She has a passion for cattle, is extremly capable, reliable and is a very hard worker.
Julie Pocock: Fitter
Julie and her partner Travis Iseppi are the team that makes Vitulus win ribbons. Julie has that special skill of presenting our cattle to the best of their ability and our show record is proof of that. Whilst Margo feeds the cattle in preparation for the shows, Julie is in charge of show day presentation. A recognised judge and fitter, Julie has won the national Young Judges coompetition and the Queensland State Paraders Competition. Julie and Travis have been part of the Vitulus Team for over 10 years now.
Craig Smith BSc. MSc: Vet
Craig has his own practice at the Karalee Karana Veterinary Surgery and specialises in cattle production. He visits our area on a monthly basis to perform herd health reports for the majority of the local dairies and the Vitulus herd. As such, he now has a growing number of lowline clients.
Dan Jillella Bsc. MSc: Embryo Technician
Dan is a recognised world expert in embyro transfer — his record being 92 embyros in one flush from a Brahman cow! Having lectured at Queensland University for a number of years he now has his own private practice and travels on a regular basis.
Beenleigh State High School
The Beenleigh State high school also shows a Vitulus team of cattle during the year. This is a win win situation for both Vitulus and Beenleigh as it allows Vitulus to get greater exposure in the showing arena and allows the Beenleigh School to show our very best show team. Vitulus is very appreciative of the support from the school and in particular Peter Lyons their exceptionally hard working dedicated Ag teacher.
